Georg Jensen wins Formland Design Award

Kitchen Collection with a South American touch in a Scandinavian design was Thursday named winner of the Formland Design Award.

The season’s most striking design news comes from Georg Jensen. It was unveiled Thursday morning at the opening of Formland Autumn 2011 in the MCH Exhibition Centre Herning. Here ,the Danish design company, was handed Formland Design Award for ALFREDO collection, with different products for the kitchen and dining table, created by Argentine Alfredo Häberli. The Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek was in charge of the ceremony.

– It’s a convincing winner of the Formland Design Award. Alfredo Häberli has managed to capture the Scandinavian design style and also added new. Georg Jensen is known for steel, and ALFREDO collection will be adding new materials such as porcelain, glass, wood and rubber. The collection’s various parts are beautiful together through form, the functionality is good and it is design to the table you can afford, says the jury in their justification of the winner.

ALFREDO collection is named after the designer and was launched in spring 2011 with a salt and pepper set, a towel rack, a decanter, a pitcher and salad bowls. This autumn’s collection has expanded with oil & vinegar in glass, an oak holder for salt and pepper or oil / vinegar – and a series of containers in glass, oak and stainless steel.

Besides ALFREDO collection was RIG-TIG decanter cleaner from Stelton and the multi functional kitchen tool “Funnel Friends” from Element+ nominated for Formland Design Award.
