Normann Copenhagen presents Valdemar – a chair in a simple and modern design. The chair’s characteristic sides form a private sphere that gives room for a cosy atmosphere and relaxation. Valdemar is full upholstered and the chair legs are covered with fabric to form an aesthetic graphic whole.

Valdemar is designed by the two industrial designers Martin Kechayas and Christian Nørgaard.

    <

They have had focus on designing a piece of furniture with a beautiful graphic expression and great sitting comfort. The chair’s inside has an organic round form in contrast to the sharp and edged outside of the chair. That makes the chair exciting both visual and in use.

Martin Kechayas and Christian Nørgaard explain:” Nowadays there is a huge need for intimacy, calm and contemplation. For that we need furniture that creates room and space – a place of our own. The point of departure was to design a piece of furniture that is a lounge chair and an easy chair in one. Furthermore, you should be seated great and the comfort should be superb. We believe that a chair should be beautiful from all angles. Valdemar almost embrace the user with its big open arms and welcome the user.”

The chair is ideal for the home to create time and room. It brings character to the living room either as a part of the couch area or as a freestanding chair.

Design Dishes, bowls, trays, vases, candlesticks, wood products, scarves, buttons and textiles. Yes, there is hardly any end to the products from the company Pure Culture in Kolding, which is among the exhibitors at Formland Autumn 2009 in Fairs MCH Herning.

Pure Culture was incorporated in 2004 by Trine and Torben Holm Larsen. They had for several years traveled to many tradition-rich countries in the Far East, South America and Africa, and it was on these trips that the inspiration for Pure Culture was created. The basic idea was – and is – to explore the many wonderful crafts that exist in countries from which it chooses the most exciting products and disseminates them in Scandinavia.

    <

They thus established contacts with the best producers and subsequently imported the products. Additionally Pure Culture established local knowledge and quality control at production sites and from the first day Pure Culture took an active part in human rights, environment and anti-corruption.

Pure Culture then began to put their own stamp on these traditional handicraft products by linking the design staff with a wide network of Danish and foreign designers and artists. In this way, they always add to the products something new, a custom Scandinavian style and make them tomorrow’s trends.

Today, Pure Culture is a well established and dynamic company with a large group of customers at home and abroad.

After having experienced the industrial mechanics as a television reporter, Alain Dupasquier, a suitable decorative arts and French raised man is happy to use his other powers and ideas.

This was based on the know-how in working with løvgrene that characterize the area of the Limousin region of France that he comes from.

    <

The big French stall at Formland Autumn 2009 in Fairs MCH Herning shows Alain Dupasquier results of his creativity and his efforts. It takes the form of outdoor garden furniture from the chestnut-Limousin region – sofas, stools and chairs for adults and children.

Chestnut from Limousin-region has a lot of tannin, so they do not rot. Therefore it lends itself particularly well to have outdoor furniture. Chestnut resist insects and bad weather, and if you leave the furniture standing out, they quickly get a beautiful silver gray tinge.

Besides pursuing an old rural tradition Alain Dupasquier also uses the local ecological resources.

A total of seven design are represented at the great French stall at Formland in Autumn 2009. The tool is organized by the Franco-Danish company Abildgaard Consult Ltd and the director, Pia Abildgaard, is Danish.
